IOTO is a knowledge management framework proposed by Teacher Johnny.
IOTO corresponds to input, output, tasks, and results respectively.
This is an exploration and attempt starting from August 2023.
The basic experience of the workflow is still good.
However, further optimization may be needed in terms of the convenience of framework personalization configuration.
I. Basic Framework#
- Use Obsidian as the base software.
- Use plugins such as dataview, templater, workspace plus, etc.
- The root directory of the library only contains four folders: input, output, tasks, and results.
- Subfolders can be set under the input folder based on personal knowledge sources.
- The same applies to the output folder.
- The subfolders under the tasks folder and the results folder must correspond one-to-one.
- Each subfolder under the tasks folder and the results folder corresponds to a project.
- Both the tasks folder and the results folder should have an archive folder set up.
II. Management Logic#
- Input is external knowledge used for learning and reference.
- Output is internal knowledge used for self-summary and improvement.
- Results are demonstrative knowledge used for knowledge dissemination and teaching.
- Tasks serve as an intermediary and management channel for connecting input, output, and results.
- Input, output, tasks, and results each correspond to a workspace.
- Manage input, output, and results through the task workspace.
III. Shortcuts#
- The shortcuts for each workspace are respectively ctrl+1, ctrl+2, ctrl+3, ctrl+4.
- Another overview workspace shortcut is ctrl+5.
- The shortcuts for creating input, output, tasks, and results are respectively alt+1, alt+2, alt+3, alt+4.
- Another auxiliary tool shortcut is alt+5.
IV. Workflow#
- The first thing to do is to open Obsidian.
- Press ctrl+3 to open the task workspace.
- Press alt+3 to create specific task projects.
- Create a link to the expected results for the day in the project and complete the content.
- During the process, it may be necessary to create output and input.
- Over time, the results in the project will be completed.
- Drag the completed projects in tasks and results into the archive folder.
